Category Lock-In

How It Works

A selection of category tiles appears on screen. You pick a few, and your next questions come exclusively from those categories at a consistent difficulty level. If you run out of time without confirming, categories are chosen at random. The difficulty matches wherever you are in your run — it won't suddenly spike or drop.

Why It Matters

Lock-In is the most strategic mode in the game. You're literally choosing what you'll be tested on. If you know your strong categories, this is free points. If you don't, you might lock yourself into something you can't handle. The pressure comes from the clock and from having to commit.

Tips

  • Pick categories you're genuinely confident in, not ones that sound fun
  • Don't overthink it — the timer is real and random selection is the worst outcome
  • The difficulty matches your current level, so late-game Lock-In means hard questions no matter what
  • Pairs well with a healthy streak since you can ride the momentum
